Cabochon only: the polished stone
A cabochon is a shaped and polished stone without the facets used in many traditional cut gems. Choosing cabochon only means you receive the loose finished piece with no bail and no chain.
This option works for a stone collector or someone who intends to use the piece in their own jewelry project. In the custom designer, the price includes the chosen material, cutting, and size charges. Finished shop cabochons already have their cutting and size included in the listed stone price.
Pendant only: add a bail for a chain
A bail is the attachment that lets a pendant hang from a chain. Loveletter Stones uses a bail attached to the back of the stone with epoxy, leaving the stone’s edges visible. Choose solid .925 sterling silver or an 18kt gold plated bail.
Pick this option when the recipient already has a chain, or when you want to choose a chain separately. The order includes the cabochon and bail but no chain. If compatibility with a particular chain matters, ask the studio before ordering rather than assuming its clasp will fit through the bail.
Pendant and necklace: the complete combination
This adds both a bail and an 18-inch cable chain. All three chain materials offer widths of 0.8, 1.0, and 1.2 mm, so you can compare a finer or more visible chain in the preview.
The chain materials are solid .925 sterling silver, 18kt gold plated over .925 sterling silver, and solid 14kt gold. A solid gold chain still uses an 18kt gold plated bail. The price breakdown separates the stone, bail, and chain so the material and cost of each part are clear.
Custom design or a finished cabochon?
Use the designer when you want to choose a stone type, shape, and size. Its texture photos show examples of the material rather than the exact piece you will receive. A custom-cut stone will have its own pattern and color variation.
Use the finished shop when you want the specific cabochon shown in the photographs. Each listing includes its shape and dimensions, with a ruler photo for scale. The stone is already cut; you choose whether it stays loose or becomes a pendant or necklace. Both routes allow up to 21 days to prepare and ship, plus delivery time.
