Give the design a specific connection
A personal gift does not need to use a conventional anniversary material. Think about the recipient first. A stone’s color might recall a trip, or a simple geometric shape might match the jewelry they wear every day.
Use the notes field to explain the design direction. For example, you might ask the maker to favor a broad sweep of color or a more understated outline. Natural patterns vary, and notes guide the work rather than guarantee a particular marking in the finished stone.
Balance shape, size, and everyday wear
A small oval or teardrop can make the stone the focus without a large silhouette. A shield, kite, or rectangle gives the pendant a more defined outline. If the pattern is the main attraction, the designer’s choice of freeform shape lets the maker choose a cut around the material.
Compare sizes on the designer’s outline model, then check the inch ranges shown beside each size. The model is a visual guide rather than an exact fit prediction. For finished pieces, use the measurements and ruler photos in the listing to judge the actual cabochon’s dimensions.
Work with their favorite chain
If they already wear a chain they love, choose the pendant-only finish. It adds an epoxy-attached bail without adding another chain to the order. If you need to check whether an existing chain will work with the bail, contact the studio before ordering.
For a complete necklace, choose an 18-inch cable chain in solid .925 sterling silver, 18kt gold plated over .925 sterling silver, or solid 14kt gold. The gold bail is plated even when the chain is solid gold; the silver bail is solid .925 sterling silver. Those material details stay visible as you choose.
Decide between a custom cut and a pictured piece
Choose the designer when you want control over the material, outline, and size. Progress photos are included, and the final step offers an optional making-of video. You can request a song there for the video.
Choose the finished shop when you have found a particular pattern you want to give. The cabochon’s shape and dimensions are already set, and you choose the finish. Allow up to 21 days to prepare and ship, plus delivery time, for either route. If the anniversary is further away, set an occasion reminder to return six weeks before it.
